Role Description
This full-time on-site Founding Software Engineer role is based in Madrid and involves designing, building, and maintaining Taleva’s core product and platform from the ground up. The role includes developing robust back-end services and APIs, implementing scalable architectures, and ensuring code quality through testing, reviews, and documentation. The engineer will collaborate closely with product and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions, make early architectural and tooling decisions, and iterate quickly on features and improvements. Day-to-day responsibilities also include monitoring system performance, addressing production issues, and contributing to engineering best practices, security, and reliability. As an early team member, this role has significant influence on technical direction, culture, and future hiring.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and systems design.
- Proficiency in Software Development and Programming, with experience delivering production-grade applications.
- Hands-on expertise in Back-End Web Development, including RESTful APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.
- Solid understanding and practical use of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles in modern languages.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced early-stage environment, take ownership, and make pragmatic technical decisions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, comfortable working closely with non-technical stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
