Greenfield Project Developer (BESS)

*West Madrid, Spain (4 days in office, 1 day from home)*

*€65,000 - €75,000 base salary per year*

We are working with a well-capitalised international energy platform that develops, builds, owns and operates grid-balancing assets, and they are building out their Iberian presence from the ground up. The role exists to lead greenfield development in a new market, with an initial focus on utility-scale Battery Energy Storage (BESS). You would own land, planning and grid workstreams on projects that firm up the Spanish grid as renewables scale.

The Company

Our client is an established international developer with a strong track record across the commercialisation, construction, trading and optimisation of versátil assets in other European markets. Spain is the next chapter, and this is a genuine early-mover position rather than a seat on a mature team. You would work inside a lean, experienced development group with real in-house expertise and intellectual property to draw on,



with scope for the technology remit to broaden over time into areas such as hydrogen and pumped storage hydro.

Key Responsibilities
- Own land acquisition strategy, from option agreements through to lease or purchase on the achievement of planning consent.
- Lead planning and environmental risk assessment end to end, managing external consultants from pre-planning through to submission.
- Progress grid connection activity in coordination with internal grid teams, engaging REE and the relevant Distribution System Operators.
- Coordinate across commercial, technical, finance, legal and procurement functions to keep projects aligned and investment-ready.

Experience & Qualifications
- A track record developing utility-scale energy projects in Spain, ideally BESS, solar or onshore wind.
- Strong grasp of the Spanish land, planning and permitting landscape.
- Experience engaging REE and DSOs on grid connection is a clear advantage.
