Senior Data Reliability Engineer

Location: Full remote from Spain

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Data Reliability Engineer to join a high-impact Platform team supporting the data infrastructure behind 400+ microservices running on AWS.

This role combines strong database administration expertise with SRE and automation practices, focusing on reliability, performance, scalability, and operational excellence.

What you will do
- Own and improve highly available database systems in production
- Drive performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning
- Implement backup, failover, and disaster recovery strategies
- Define and monitor SLOs / SLIs for database environments
- Support incident response, post-mortems, and reliability improvements
- Automate operational tasks through Terraform and scripting
- Work closely with engineering teams to improve database performance and reliability

What we are looking for




- 5+ years of experience in database administration in production environments
- Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL
- Experience with AWS RDS / Aurora
- Solid knowledge of Terraform
- Strong SQL skills and experience with performance optimization
- Experience with Datadog, monitoring, and observability
- Scripting skills in Python or Bash
- Fluent English

Nice to have
- Experience with MySQL, MongoDB, or Redis
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, or OpenTelemetry
- Familiarity with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Claude Code
