Job description
We are seeking an experienced bioinformatics professional to lead the Bioinformatics Unit at CRAG.
The Head of Bioinformatics Unit will be responsible for coordinating and developing the institution's bioinformatics services, providing scientific and technical support to research groups, managing computational resources and contributing to the strategic development of data-intensive research activities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics and multi-omics projects, while promoting best practices in data management, reproducibility and computational biology.
KeyResponsibilities
- Lead the Bioinformatics Unit and supervise assigned personnel.
- Support CRAG researchers in the analysis and interpretation of omics data sets.
- Develop, implement and optimize bioinformatics pipelines and computational workflows.
- Coordinate the use and evolution of bioinformatics computational infrastructure, including HPC resources.
- Contribute to institutional strategies related to bioinformatics, research data management and artificial intelligence.
- Provide training activities and technical guidance to researchers and students.
- Support data submission to public repositories and promote FAIR data principles.
- Collaborate in competitive funding applications and institutionals cientific initiatives.
- Establish collaborations with external bioinformatics platforms and infrastructures.
- Identify opportunities for service development, innovation and external income generation.
Requirements
- PhD in LifeSciences or related disciplines.
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics will be considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in omics data analysis and computational biology.
