At GVI Tenerife, you’ll be located on a diverse island destination, helping guide research projects and support volunteers.
Why this role mattersAs a Field Assistant in Tenerife, you will support the team in the day-to-day running of the programs and assist with managing participants who form part of our groups. The goal is to ensure our groups have a positive and productive experience during their time with GVI.
This role suits someone who thrives in the field, balancing rigorous science, engaging training, and real-life field challenges.
Responsibilities
- Support the running of projects and the daily operations of the GVI base
- Assist with project work including planning sessions
- Manage groups on a day-to-day basis to ensure a positive experience
- Interact with local partners for certain activities
- Deliver presentations and training relevant to project activities
- Act as an enthusiastic role model for participants and provide guidance and mentorship
Qualifications
- Passion for sustainable development and marine conservation
- People-centric mindset; comfortable with being on duty 24/7
- Experience managing and overseeing groups/participants/students (in-country training provided)
- EU passport or valid work permit
- Advantageous: previous GVI experience; understanding of local culture; Emergency First Response certified/trained
