Ahbstra is a climate tech company developing advanced machines to address critical environmental challenges, beginning with integral water scarcity. The company’s patented technology harnesses breakthrough molecular chemistry in Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) to deliver durable, high-performance systems for sustainable, self-sufficient access to fresh water, even in very dry regions. Ahbstra’s first commercial product, will be the world’s first MOF-based machine capable of generating up to 500 liters of water per day, supporting the needs of a typical family home. Team members join a mission-driven organization imagining a future where water independence is standard for homes, communities, and developments worldwide.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site role in Barcelona. You will design and test our air-to-water machines. You will also build the test rigs we use to screen new MOF materials - the data they generate is what optimises our current and future machines. You will support prototyping, testing,
and validation. You will analyse performance data and iterate designs to improve reliability, efficiency, and manufacturability. We are a small team, you will own what you design, and you will help us grow the engineering team as we scale. What you will doDesign mechanical assemblies and optimise sheet metal designsDesign and build test rigs to characterise new MOF sorbent materialsDiagnose real hardware — airflow, heat transfer, adsorption performanceWork with workshops on parts and prototypesWork with suppliers to bring BOM costs downWhat we needDegree in mechanical engineering, or equivalentStrong CAD skills (preferably Solid Works)Hands-on.
