Senior System Engineer – Virtualization

? Your Role

For a leading organization in the Belgian notarial sector, we are looking for an experienced Senior System Engineer – Virtualization to manage and optimize critical virtualization, storage, and backup infrastructure.

You will be responsible for the daily management, support, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise infrastructure, with a strong focus on Nutanix AHV, VMware, backup, storage, and high availability.

? Responsibilities

- Provide Level 2 and Level 3 support for virtualization and backup platforms
- Design, manage, and maintain Nutanix AHV and VMware environments
- Implement and maintain high-availability and clustering solutions
- Design and operate enterprise backup solutions for virtual servers
- Define and manage backup SLAs, RPOs, and RTOs
- Configure backup policies, retention, restore, and reporting
- Manage archiving and long-term retention of virtual workloads
- Automate virtual server provisioning and operational tasks
- Monitor and optimize performance, capacity, and storage usage
- Contribute to Disaster Recovery Plans and participate in DR testing
- Investigate incidents and ensure clear communication with stakeholders in case of SLA breaches




- Document operational procedures and share knowledge with colleagues

? Profile

Must-Haves

- 7+ years of experience as a Virtualization System Engineer
- At least 2 years in a senior position with technical ownership
- Strong expertise in Nutanix AHV and/or VMware vSphere
- Strong knowledge of backup and data protection solutions
- Advanced knowledge of Backup & Storage, Hyperconverged Infrastructure, and Virtualization
- Good knowledge of SAN and storage technologies
- Solid understanding of Windows Server in virtualized environments
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and SMTP
- Experience with enterprise monitoring and reporting tools
- Strong automation and scripting skills
- Professional working proficiency in English
- Fluent Dutch or French, with at least passive knowledge of the other national language

Nice-to-Haves

- Experience with Disaster Recovery and business continuity
- Experience defining and testing RPO/RTO scenarios
- Experience with infrastructure automation and virtual server deployment
- Knowledge of enterprise server hardware
- Experience in large-scale or highly regulated environments
