The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is seeking a Research Assitant who is interested in taking over and managing activities of the project LipBioCruzi: Validation of lipid biomarkers and therapeutic targets in chronic Trypanosoma cruzi infection (ref.: PI25/00617)



financed by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III and co-financed by FEDER.
The overall project goal is to achieve a better understanding of the lipid metabolism at the T. cruzi parasite interaction interface with host cells, as this is meant to play a significant role in the pathogenesis of the infection. This could mean a source for the identification of drug targets, and the development of diagnostics for the monitoring of patients. The latter would facilitate their evaluation and follow up, simplifying the design of clinical trials too.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage host and parasite cell cultures.
- Design and development of targeted anti-parasitic and cell toxicity assays.
- Isolation of parasite and host cells derived lipid droplets.
- Preparation of samples for untargeted and targeted lipidomics.
