The position
We welcome your application for the position of PhD Fellow at the Department of Child Welfare and Social Work (IBS), within the Faculty of Humanities, Social Sciences, and Teacher Education (HSL). The position is affiliated with the top research group Indigenous voices | UiT and NORWEL - Norsk forskerskole i sosialt arbeid og barnevern.
The objective of the position is to complete research training to the level of a doctoral degree. Admission to the PhD programme is a prerequisite for employment, and the programme period starts on commencement of the position. The PhD fellow position is for a period of three years and full time studies with the possibility of an extension of the appointment period. If the doctoral dissertation is submitted for appraisal within 3 years or within 3.5 years, the PhD candidate is qualified for a completion grant for either 12 or 6 months. The completion grant should be used to further qualification measures such as courses in teaching in higher education, lecturing and other relevant work at the faculty.

The workplace will be at one of the department's three campuses: Alta, Harstad, or Tromsø, preferably at the Alta campus. You must be able to start in the position within a reasonable time after receiving the offer.

Reconciliation and restoration are central concepts in addressing historical injustices, building trust, and rectifying harm and wrongs inflicted on individuals, groups, and communities. Reconciliation requires acknowledgment of historical circumstances, such as the consequences of Norwegianization, reparation, and measures that promote equality and foster fair reconciliation efforts. Restoration involves restoring dignity and rights. Restorative measures can lay the foundation for reconciliation by demonstrating a willingness to take responsibility for past mistakes.
