We are now seeking a talented and motivated Legal Counsel to join our Legal Services team at this exciting time.
About the role
This is a varied and rewarding in-house legal role, offering the opportunity to work across the full breadth of university activity. You will provide high-quality, pragmatic legal advice to colleagues across academic schools and professional services, supporting effective decision-making while managing legal risk.
Acting as a key contact within the Legal Services team, you will independently handle a wide range of matters, escalating more complex or high-risk issues where appropriate.
Key responsibilities will include :
- Provide expert legal advice across a broad range of areas, including commercial,



corporate, and governance matters
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of contracts and agreements, including:
- Support the University in legal compliance and risk management, delivering clear, practical guidance
- Advise on when to engage external legal counsel and manage those relationships effectively

Partnership and collaboration agreements, Joint ventures and franchise arrangements, International and apprenticeship-related agreements
We are looking for a confident, collaborative legal professional who can provide practical, solution-focused advice in a complex and fast-paced environment, who has the following:
- Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with a proven track record of post-qualification experience
- Strong expertise in contract and commercial law
- Proven ability to build relationships and influence at all levels
- Highly organised, with attention to detail
