Introduction to the vacant position:

TheSmart Nano-Bio-Devices Groupis looking for a Predoctoral Researcher to develop a PhD project on the design and application of enzyme-powered nanomotors for the treatment of osteoarthritis and joint-related diseases.

Main tasks and responsibilities:
- Synthesis and functionalization of highly biocompatible, organic-based nanoparticles to serve as active delivery carriers for therapeutic molecules.
- Study of the enzyme-powered motion dynamics of the nanobots and their ability to navigate viscous biological barriers (such as synovial fluid).
- In vitro and in vivo studies on the efficacy of the developed nanobots for targeted delivery and tissue regeneration.
- Evaluation of nanomotors internalization, tissue distribution, and overall biocompatibility.
- Implementation of targeted delivery assays to evaluate the enhanced therapeutic efficacy of active motion versus passive diffusion.

Requirements for candidates:
- Essential:
- Degree and Master’s in any field related to chemistry, materials science, biology, nanotechnology,



biomedical engineering, or similar.
- Multidisciplinary qualifications and/or knowledge of nanoparticles and drug delivery systems (specific knowledge of enzyme catalysis and nanomotors will be a plus).
- Competencies and skills: Communication, teamwork and collaboration, commitment, proactivity, integrity, and critical/analytical thinking.
- High level of English.
- Advantageous:
- Experience in nanomedicine, active matter, biomaterials, or 3D cell culture models.
- Experience with in vivo imaging.
