Interim VP Engineering

Barcelona (Hybrid) | 9-Month Contract | €1,000–€1,250 per day

We're partnering with a profitable, established European technology company that is launching a brand-new engineering hub in Barcelona.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced
VP Engineering / Director of Engineering
to help build the new Barcelona hub while providing executive-level leadership across a strategic, customer-facing technology platform used across Europe.

The initial contract is for
9 months
, with a
strong likelihood of converting into a permanent VP Engineering position
.

The Role

You'll be responsible for:
- Leading multiple engineering teams and engineering managers.
- Driving engineering excellence, delivery performance and organisational effectiveness.
- Partnering with Product, Architecture and executive stakeholders on technology strategy.
- Helping establish the Barcelona engineering hub, including culture, operating model and leadership practices.




- Supporting the adoption of AI and automation to improve engineering productivity.
- Building strong relationships with teams across Europe, including regular travel to Prague during the initial months.

About You
- VP Engineering, Director of Engineering or similar senior leadership experience.
- Proven track record leading large-scale software engineering organisations.
- Strong technical credibility and experience driving engineering transformation.
- Experience improving delivery, quality, scalability and team performance.
- Comfortable operating in fast-moving, high-growth environments.
- Fluent English required.
