School Nurse / Principal or Designated Senior Leader
Job Purpose
The Auxiliary Nurse supports the School Nurse in promoting the health, safety, and wellbeing of students and staff. The role includes providing first aid, assisting with the management of medical needs, maintaining accurate health records, and undertaking a range of administrative duties to ensure the efficient operation of the school's medical provision. The post holder will work on a 50% Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) basis and may be required to work flexibly according to the operational needs of the school.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical and Student Care
Provide first aid and basic nursing care to students, staff, and visitors in accordance with school policies and established procedures.
Assist the School Nurse in managing students with chronic medical conditions, allergies, and individual healthcare plans.
Administer medication under the direction of the School Nurse and in line with school policies and legal requirements.




Monitor students who become unwell during the school day and communicate appropriately with parents or guardians when required.
Maintain a safe, clean, and well-equipped medical room.
Ensure adequate stock levels of first aid supplies and medical equipment, reporting shortages as necessary.
Support health promotion initiatives and wellbeing programmes across the school.
Administrative Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and confidential student medical records and update electronic health management systems.
Record all accidents, incidents, treatments, and medication administration in accordance with school procedures.
Assist in preparing reports, statistics, and documentation relating to student health and wellbeing.
Schedule medical appointments, vaccinations, health screenings, and follow-up activities when required.
Support communication with parents, healthcare providers, and external agencies regarding students' medical needs.
