Temporary Faculty Pool – Lecturer in Film and Media Arts, Department of Media, Communications and Journalism

Since 1928, the Media, Communications and Journalism Department has prepared thousands of students for professional media careers. The department currently offers courses in advertising, broadcast and digital journalism, film, photography, public relations and video production.

Position Summary: The department seeks qualified candidates to teach undergraduate courses such as:

- MCJ 4: Writing for Visual Media
- MCJ 15: Filmmaking
- MCJ 17: Photojournalism
- MCJ 114W: Screenwriting
- or other classes that may be identified as needed to fulfill the educational goals of current students

Instructional Responsibilities:



Temporary faculty members are responsible for adherence to and implementation of university and system‑wide policies as directed per Academic Policy Manual 306, paragraph 2. Instructors are responsible for the preparation, delivery, conduction, proctoring, and grading (as appropriate) of lectures, office hours, homework assignments, quizzes, class projects, and midterm and final exams. All classes must be offered and meet as scheduled throughout the entire semester, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes (i.e. asynchronous, synchronous, in‑person, or hybrid).

Conditional Appointment: Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the order of assignment provisions in the collective bargaining agreement between California State University and the California Faculty Association.
