The Spanish Marine & Aviation Underwriting Team within AXA XL provides insurance solutions for a diverse portfolio of large and corporate clients globally, offering a broad range of insurance solutions such as Marine Cargo, Project Cargo, Freight Forwarders Liability, Shipper’s Interest, general aviation, and airport liability policies.
We have a great opportunity for an experienced underwriter to join this successful team and support the expansion of the business.
Responsibilities

Review submissions including applications, policy wording, inspection reports, loss runs and financial reports, while conducting appropriate research to determine the degree of risk for each account.
Calculate risk premium by considering risk costs, reinsurance cessions and underwriting and general administration costs to ensure profitability.
Proactively advise, assist, service and follow up with brokers/clients on insurance and risk management matters to ensure satisfaction and fulfillment of their requirements.




Manage relationships to initiate cross‑selling opportunities and ensure account retention.
Control timely implementation of new and renewed accounts in accordance with quality standards.
Support the business planning and forecasting process; monitor financial exposure and premium income within outlined limits.
Maintain awareness of all claims advised and support settlement of claims.

Qualifications

University degree and knowledge of the maritime industry is highly considered.
Knowledge of insurance industry fundamentals and proven experience in marine/cargo underwriting activities.
Proficiency in English and Spanish required; other languages are a plus.
Experience using selling and negotiation techniques; adapt to customer needs and influence parties to reach positive outcomes.
