Associate Legal Counsel - Commercial

Ebury Madrid Office - 4 days a week onsite working

The Legal Department at Ebury is core to the functioning of the Ebury Group. It provides front‑line advice to all parts of the Ebury Group on legal, regulatory and governance matters which contribute to Ebury’s growth every day.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and driven commercial lawyer who is keen to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic and growing company which is focused on building Ebury’s brand. The successful candidate will provide high quality legal advice to key stakeholders in Spain and overseas and be pivotal to Ebury’s development on a global scale. This is a commercially‑focused position that will enable the successful candidate to turn their hand to a wide variety of matters and develop across the full breadth of the Ebury Group's activities.

Key responsibilities include:

- drafting and negotiating sports sponsorship, partnership and related commercial contracts;
- advising on and negotiating intellectual property agreements, including licensing, assignment and brand‑related arrangements;
- drafting and negotiating technology‑related agreements, including API, SaaS, software licensing, data and other technology and vendor contracts;
- advising on technology and operational‑resilience regulatory matters, including the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA) and stablecoin offering;




- drafting and negotiating agreements required to support Ebury’s business and operational activity with third parties and on an intragroup basis;
- contributing to the design and implementation of new products and expansion into new markets;
- advising on corporate structuring matters to maintain and develop Ebury’s corporate structure given its general footprint in an efficient manner, having regard to regulatory, tax and other relevant matters;
- supporting the Front Office, Risk Department, HR Department and others in efficiently resolving disputes;
- working with HR, Operations and other departments to resolve day‑to‑day queries;
- representing Ebury in interaction with clients, counterparties, banking partners, industry bodies and other third parties;
- preparing templates, playbooks, procedures and self‑service material and participating in the provision of relevant training and awareness programmes; and
- supporting the Chief Legal Officer in delivering the Legal Department’s objectives generally, sharing knowhow and training and development of less experienced members of the team.

Key skills requirements include:

- a proactive mindset and an ability to communicate effectively in practical terms with stakeholders at all levels of the Ebury Group;
- law degree;
- a legal qualification in a jurisdiction where Ebury has a significant presence is desirable but not essential; applicants holding legal qualifications from other jurisdictions will also be considered;
- commercial law experience, ideally including experience of intellectual property, technology (including API and SaaS agreements) or technology‑related regulation;
- at least 4 years of qualified experience, either in private practice or in house;
- interest in the fintech sector and financial products;
- fluent in English (C1, advanced level); and
- an ability in a fast paced environment to prioritise and manage a wide range of competing priorities (with support from other team members and external counsel where necessary).
