About the Role
For one of our clients in the banking sector, we are looking for an experienced Contract Engineer / Legal Procurement Specialist to join the Procurement Excellence team.
This role combines legal expertise (70%) and procurement experience (30%), with a strong focus on ensuring procurement contracts comply with evolving regulatory requirements, particularly DORA (Digital Operational Resilience Act).
You will act as the key legal point of contact for procurement, supporting contract management, template development, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder collaboration across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Review, adapt and maintain procurement contract templates to ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks, including DORA.
- Translate legal and regulatory requirements into practical contractual provisions.
- Develop new contract templates for specific categories, services, and procurement needs.
- Review and improve contractual terms and conditions.
- Support procurement and category managers during contract negotiations and supplier discussions.
- Provide legal guidance on procurement-related matters.
- Ensure contracts are aligned with internal governance, risk, and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with Legal, Procurement, IT, Risk, and business stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within Procurement Excellence.
Your Profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law.
- Minimum 4-6 years of relevant experience in contract management, contract engineering, legal procurement, or a similar role.
- Strong legal background combined with practical procurement knowledge.
- Hands-on experience with DORA regulations is mandatory.
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Banking, financial services, or regulated industry experience is strongly preferred.
- Able to interpret regulations and translate them into operational and contractual solutions.
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and pragmatic.
- Comfortable working with multiple stakeholders in a dynamic environment.
Languages
- Fluent in Dutch or French
- Excellent command of English
- Trilingual Dutch/French/English is considered a strong advantage
This is a hybrid position requiring regular presence at:
- Brussels (minimum 1 day/week)
- Berchem, Antwerp (minimum 1 day/week)
- Remote working for the remaining days, depending on meetings, workshops, and business needs.
