Job Description

The Deputy Director: Open and Distance Learning (ODL) is to assist the Director of the Centre of Innovation in Learning and Teaching (CILT) with the effective and efficient management and administration of the Open and Distance Learning activities. Provide strategic and operational leadership to the Open and Distance Learning Department by translating the Centre's strategic objectives into effective programmes, systems and services that enhance academic quality, digital learning and student success.

The position is a response to an increase in distance-mode academic programmes and distance-mode student numbers. The functions include ODL strategy development and implementation, development of ODL materials, student support services, instructional systems, human capital and financial resources,



as may be required

Requirements

- The candidate should at least be at the rank of a Senior Lecturer, hold a Master's degree in Open and Distance Learning or related fields, or a relevant PhD would be an added advantage,
- The candidate should have five (5) years in Open and Distance Learning support with a Master's Degree or three (3) years with a PhD or relevant qualification, and working experience.
- The successful candidate should be a strong individual who commands respect from his/her peers, and has outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, combined with excellent digital fluency, organising, planning, analytical, fundraising, administrative, and managerial skills and an understanding of the national and international roles of universities
