Functional Data Analyst (Data Governance & Analytics)

Location: Madrid Office (Hybrid / Remote options available)

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive Functional Data Analyst to join our dynamic CDO & Data Science team. In this role, you will serve as a key Functional Business Analyst for the Data Governance, Quality, and Extraction workstream, specifically focusing on our core data governance tool.

You will work closely with the Product Owner (PO) and external vendors to bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution, ensuring our data ecosystem remains robust, compliant, and highly efficient.

Key Responsibilities

- Workstream Leadership: Partner with the Product Owner to co-lead all data governance workstreams and drive project success.
- Requirements Gathering: Identify, analyze, and prioritize user needs and complex functional requirements.
- Backlog Management: Manage the internal task backlog, negotiating with the development team on execution, timelines, and prioritization.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with external tool providers to prioritize the product backlog and align on feature releases.
- Quality Assurance & Validation: Validate implemented tool functionalities to guarantee they meet agreed-upon functional requirements; support comprehensive testing phases.
- Incident Management: Manage, review, track, and resolve system incidents to minimize business disruption.




- Stakeholder Engagement: Organize deliverables, lead user demos, and actively participate in or manage various project meetings and committees.
- Analytics & Reporting: Design, review, and validate data dashboards and calculate key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive data-driven decision-making.

Experience & Education Requirements
- Professional Experience: 2+ years of experience working within a corporate environment (experience in banking or financial services is a plus).
- Data Background: Solid educational or professional background rooted in data management, data analysis, or business intelligence.
- Language Proficiency: Advanced, fluent English and Spanish communication skills (both written and verbal).

Skills & Knowledge
- Data Governance: Strong familiarity or hands-on experience with data governance tools.
- Agile Methodologies: Proven experience working in Agile environments; proficiency with JIRA and Confluence, including a strong understanding of Agile ceremonies and task classifications.
- Data Visualization: Experience working with data exploitation tools, with a strong preference for Power BI .
- Technical Skills: Sound knowledge of SQL and exposure to programming languages like Python .
- Cloud Environments: Practical experience working within Azure Databricks .
