It houses Mare Nostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, was a founding and hosting member of the former European HPC infrastructure PRACE (Partnership for Advanced Computing in Europe), and is now hosting entity for Euro HPC JU, the Joint Undertaking that leads large-scale investments and HPC provision in Europe. The mission of BSC is to research, develop and manage information technologies in order to facilitate scientific progress. BSC combines HPC service provision and R&D; into both computer and computational science (life, earth and engineering sciences) under one roof, and currently has over 1000 staff from 60 countries. and you could bring unique perspectives to our team. Context And Mission The Quantic group is a BSC initiative to study Quantum computation. This novel paradigm of computation has the potential to exploit Quantum mechanics to perform high-performance computations of Quantum systems and optimization problems. The final goal of this project is the application of this new computing power to real-world problems. Our approach involves the development of novel HPC tools to simulate and study large scale Quantum circuits. Key Duties Study and implement parallel tools to optimize Quantum circuits in HPC systems Development of hybrid aplications in GPU and CPU Development of numerical methods for optimization problems Requirements EducationDegree in Physics, Computer science or equivalent Essential Knowledge and Professional ExperienceExperience in parallel programming models (MPi, Open MP,...) Knowledge of Machine Learning platforms Fluent in Python, Julia, C and C++ Experience with GPU programming Additional Knowledge and Professional ExperienceNumerical programming skills Good level in English (written and spoken)
