About the Company
Our client is a well-established renewable energy investor and Independent Power Producer with a strong track record across the European energy market. The business has extensive experience in developing, financing and delivering renewable energy projects across multiple technologies and geographies.
With a growing portfolio and pipeline of clean energy assets, the organisation is looking to strengthen its project finance capability with an experienced professional who can take a leading role in the financing of renewable energy projects from origination through to financial close and beyond.
The Role
As Project Finance Manager, you will play a key role in structuring, negotiating and executing project finance transactions across the renewable energy and infrastructure sectors.
You will work closely with internal teams, lenders, investors, legal counsel and external advisors, taking responsibility for the financial and commercial aspects of transactions and ensuring financing processes are delivered effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the origination, structuring, negotiation and execution of project finance transactions across relevant markets and technologies.
- Identify and engage with appropriate lenders and financing partners, preparing the materials required to secure project financing, including teasers, information memorandums, financial models and due diligence documentation.
- Analyse and compare financing proposals and term sheets, assessing different structuring options in relation to risk, returns, leverage, equity requirements, project maturity and available financing instruments.
- Lead and coordinate the financial, legal, technical, insurance and other due diligence processes,
working closely with internal stakeholders, lenders and external advisors.
- Coordinate the preparation and delivery of due diligence materials and ensure information requirements are met throughout the financing process.
- Support and lead negotiations relating to financing and security documentation alongside internal and external legal advisers.
- Coordinate internal approvals, KYC requirements, conditions precedent and other documentation required to achieve financial close.
- Monitor financing arrangements throughout construction and operations, working with asset management and finance teams to oversee drawdowns, covenant compliance and ongoing lender requirements.
- Support the management of waivers, amendments, restructurings and refinancing processes where required.
- Provide financial and commercial input into wider business requirements and strategic projects as requested by senior management.
Candidate Requirements The successful candidate will have a strong background in project finance, ideally within the renewable energy or wider infrastructure sector, with proven experience taking transactions through to completion.
You should have
- At least 5 years' experience working in project finance, preferably within renewable energy or infrastructure.
- Previous experience within a bank, infrastructure or energy company, debt advisory firm or similar environment.
- Strong financial modelling capabilities, with the ability to work confidently with complex project finance models.
- Proven experience analysing and negotiating term sheets and financing documentation with lenders, financial institutions or investors.
- Experience negotiating and reviewing complex project finance legal documentation.
- A strong understanding of credit analysis, financial structuring and project finance principles.
- Experience managing complex due diligence processes involving multiple internal and external advisers.
- Demonstrable experience of successfully executing project finance transactions.
- Strong numerical, analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at different levels.
- The ability to work autonomously while also contributing effectively within an international, multicultural team.
Desirable Experience Experience or exposure to the following would be advantageous:
- European renewable energy markets, particularly the UK, Spain, Italy, Poland and Romania.
- Renewable energy technologies including Solar PV, Battery Energy Storage and Wind.
- Project finance advisers, lenders and financial institutions.
- Renewable energy subsidy mechanisms and Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs).
- Sophisticated Excel-based project finance modelling.
- Additional European languages such as Spanish, Italian, Polish or Romanian.
