What This Trial Is About

Researchers are evaluating the use of immersive virtual reality VR-based Action Observation Therapy AOT alongside conventional rehabilitation for patients who have suffered traumatic wrist and hand injuries. This randomized controlled trial aims to assess whether adding VR can improve recovery in hand function, strength, pain, proprioception, disability, and psychological factors. Wrist and hand injuries can cause significant loss of function and quality of life,

and this study explores an engaging rehabilitation method that may enhance patient motivation and motor learning. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of two groups. One group will receive standard rehabilitation care, which includes active and passive mobilization, strengthening exercises, functional training, and pain management. The other group will receive the same standard rehabilitation plus an additional VR program using Meta Quest Pro headsets. This VR program involves observing and performing functional wrist and hand movements twice a week for six weeks, with each session lasting about 45 minutes. During the study, participants will be assessed at baseline, at six weeks, and three months after completing the intervention. Evaluations include grip strength, wrist motion, hand function questionnaires, pain levels, proprioception, and psychological measures such as fear of movement and pain catastrophizing. These assessments use validated clinical tools
