This role requires integrating aviation regulations and large-scale infrastructure project requirements into the temporary works design and ensuring site safety throughout construction.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities
Design and Analysis: Develop temporary works solutions including formwork, falsework, scaffolding, edge protection, propping for walls and floors, and temporary bridges for airport infrastructure.
Technical Documentation: Produce and review engineering calculations, drawings, and proposals to ensure designs are compliant and constructible.
Compliance and Safety: Ensure all designs adhere to BS 5975, Eurocodes, local regulations, and health and safety standards.
Project Coordination: Collaborate closely with architects, project managers, contractors,
and airport authorities to meet design requirements, scheduling, and construction constraints.
Site Support: Conduct site visits and inspections to assess temporary works, address challenges, provide guidance, and verify safety and structural integrity.
Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and develop safe systems of work for complex or high-risk elements like deep excavations or large-scale suspended structures.
Mentorship and Leadership: Guide junior engineers and team members, supporting capacity building and technical skill development.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, software advancements, and best practices in temporary works design for large-scale projects, including airport environments.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng).
Professional Accreditation: Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards CEng, preferably affiliated with ICE
