Data Privacy Specialist

Location: Brussels, Belgium

Freelance Contract: 1 September 2026 – 31 December 2026

The candidate must be able to write documents and have interactive meetings in the languages: French or Dutch, and English

We are looking for an experienced Data Privacy Expert to support a leading financial services organisation with GDPR, Data Privacy & Ethics, Data Governance and AI Regulation initiatives.

The role involves advising business and technology teams, assessing privacy risks, supporting regulatory requirements and ensuring practical implementation of data protection measures.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct DPIAs and privacy risk assessments for projects, outsourcing initiatives and existing solutions.
- Identify and document data privacy risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Provide GDPR and data privacy advice to business and technical stakeholders.
- Support Data Subject Rights requests and personal data breach management.
- Provide privacy support for AI Regulation and AI-related initiatives.
- Develop privacy processes, documentation, templates and training materials.




- Support Data Governance and Analytics & AI processes.
- Deliver privacy awareness and training.
- Work with business, legal, compliance, security and technology teams.
- Handle sensitive information with a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

Skills & Qualifications

- 3–5 years of relevant experience in Data Privacy, GDPR, Risk, Compliance, Audit or Data Governance.
- Strong knowledge of GDPR and data protection principles.
- Experience with DPIAs and privacy risk assessments.
- Excellent analytical, reporting and communication skills.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Banking/financial services experience is an advantage.
- Experience with AI, analytics or data governance is desirable.
- DPO/GDPR certification is an advantage.
- Master's degree in Law, Engineering or a relevant analytical discipline.
- Fluent French OR Dutch and English
