Systems Engineer/DevOps Eng, ESC Managed Operations
AWS has successfully launched the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC), marking a significant development in Utility Computing (UC). The AWS Managed Operations team seeks experienced systems engineers with a strong background in automation and operations to build, operate, and evolve teams dedicated to delivering high‑availability services such as EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, exclusively for EU customers.

Responsibilities

Oversee the ongoing operations and expansion of the ESC, collaborating with general AWS teams and influencing the evolution of AWS services and technologies.

Contribute to day‑to‑day operations, ensuring continuous improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency.

Participate in on‑call rotations to resolve out‑of‑hours incidents and maintain 24x7 service availability.

Assess operational health, identify anomalies, draft actionable bug reports, and address operational backlog.

Develop and test scripts to enhance workflows and support operational excellence.





Educate service teams on European Sovereign Cloud concepts and best practices.

Eligibility

Fluency in written and spoken English.

Nationality of an EU member state and residency within the EU.

Relocation support available for successful applicants relocating within the EU.

Participation in an on‑call rota.

Basic Qualifications

Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting, or networking administration and troubleshooting.

Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language.

Experience in systems engineering, site reliability engineering, and operating systems at scale.

National of an EU member state.

Ability to lead the creation, revision, and improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs) and drive operational best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with monitoring frameworks such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic, or similar.

Experience mentoring junior
