The Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (DSAI) group is a multidisciplinary research team at the University of Barcelona, dedicated to advancing AI and data science technologies. We tackle the challenges of large-scale data generation from technological, scientific, and societal perspectives, driving innovation in digital transformation.
We are now looking for an Innovation & Industry Partnerships Manager to help us strengthen our impact and
expand our collaborations.
About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic professional with a hybrid profile combining innovation, business development, and communication. This role is key to positioning DSAI as a leading reference in applied AI and fostering strong connections between research and industry.
You will act as a bridge between academia and the market, playing a central role in:
- Attracting and securing new projects
- Building strategic partnerships with public and private organizations
- Increasing the visibility and impact of our research
You will work closely with both the TECNIO DSAI group and the BCN-AIM research group, affiliated with the University of Barcelona.
Key Responsibilities Research & Innovation Collaboration
- Identify and develop collaboration opportunities with companies, institutions, and ecosystem stakeholders
- Build and strengthen strategic university–industry partnerships
- Design and drive joint research and innovation initiatives
- Develop and manage stakeholder networks to foster synergies
Opportunity Scouting & Outreach
- Proactively engage with organizations interested in knowledge transfer
- Detect innovation needs and align them with DSAI capabilities
- Support the organization of networking and knowledge transfer events
- Enhance DSAI’s visibility through communication activities (social media, content, events, etc.)
Requirements Academic Background
- Degree in Engineering (Telecommunications, Computer Science, Industrial, Environmental), Physics, or related fields
- Nice to have:
- PhD
- Business-related training (MBA, finance, project management, etc.)
Professional Experience
- Proven experience in university–industry collaboration (mandatory)
- Experience managing R&D;&I; projects
- Background in communication, marketing, or brand positioning in scientific/tech environments
- Experience managing digital content (web, social media, newsletters)
- Knowledge of funding programs (national/international) is a plus
Skills & Competencies
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships
- Content creation and digital channel management (LinkedIn, web, etc.)

- Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams
- Languages: Native Catalan & Spanish; fluent English
