As Principal AI u0026amp; ML Scientist at Evinova, you frame clinical problems quantitatively and build AI-driven solutions to simplify clinical trial processes. You partner with Clinical Operations and Clinical Development to translate needs into validated models and analyses, with end-to-end responsibility from design to production. You will advance methodological rigor, mentor others, and stay aligned with clinical realities through collaboration with clinicians and medical experts. This role offers a chance to set the analytical bar for a fast-growing health tech initiative within AstraZeneca, driving real-world impact in trial design and decision-making.

• Partner with Clinical Operations and Clinical Development to understand problems and trial complexity
• Design and validate AI/advanced analytics solutions to reduce clinical trial complexity
• Become SME on clinical trial design within the AI u0026 Data Science team
• Stay connected to science and clinicians to ground solutions in clinical reality
• Frame healthcare problems quantitatively and develop models and analyses
• Design and run experiments to evaluate methods and quantify impact
• Apply rigorous statistical and ML methods including experimental design and causal inference
• Own model evaluation, clinical validation, endpoints, and real-world evidence




• Translate results into clear decisions and communicate to stakeholders
• Collaborate with engineering to productionize validated models
• Mentor team members in methodological rigor and experimental design
• Collaborate across functions to align AI initiatives with business and clinical goals
• Stay current with advances in ML and statistics; develop novel approaches when needed
Responsabilidades
• Degree in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related quantitative field; advanced degree preferred
• 5+ years in data science or applied ML focused on modeling, experimentation, and validation
• Strong Python with NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, SciPy, statsmodels, Optuna, TensorFlow/PyTorch
• Strong foundation in statistics, experimental design, hypothesis testing, causal inference, xqbhyrx and uncertainty quantification
• Rigorous model evaluation, handling bias, data leakage, and generalization
• Experiment design and A/B testing experience, including confounded or limited data settings
• Hands-on experience with generative AI and large language models (LLMs) and related integration
• Advanced SQL skills for large datasets
• Experience with clinical, health, or regulated real-world data
• Creative problem-solving and independent work
• Excellent communication with technical, non-technical, and clinical audiences
• Proven ability to translate clinical problems into analytical solutions and build trust
• Demonstrated innovation mindset and ability to work independently
