You will work with engineering teams todesign, implement, and maintain high‑performance, scalable, and resilient database systemsthat power our AI‑driven platform.Your role will involvedatabase tuning, backup and recovery strategies, monitoring, and ensuring data integritywhile working with structured and unstructured data sources.This is a fully onsite position, based at our office in Lisbon, where you will collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams in person and contribute to a dynamic and fast‑paced environment. We are open to supporting relocation efforts.ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and maintain high‑performance database systems to support large‑scale applications.Optimize database queries, indexing strategies, and partitioning to enhance performance.Monitor database health, ensuring high availability, scalability, and disaster recovery.Manage and fine‑tune SQL and No SQL databases (e.G., Postgre SQL, My SQL, Mongo DB, Redis, Dynamo DB).Implement database security policies, encryption, and access control to protect sensitive data.Automate database backups, replication, and failover mechanisms.Work closely with developers to optimize queries, schema design,
and data modeling.Perform capacity planning and monitor database growth trends.Ensure compliance with data governance, GDPR, and other regulatory requirements.Stay updated with the latest database technologies, trends, and best practices.RequirementsAround 4+ years of experience as a Database Administrator (DBA) or similar role.Expertise in relational databases (Postgre SQL, My SQL, SQL Server) and/or No SQL databases (Mongo DB, Redis, Cassandra, Dynamo DB).Strong knowledge of database optimization, indexing, partitioning, and replication.Experience in performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting slow queries.Familiarity with database backup, recovery, failover, and disaster recovery strategies.Experience with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Aurora, Google Cloud Spanner, Azure SQL).Knowledge of scripting for automation (Python, Bash, SQL scripts).Understanding of data security best practices, encryption, and compliance requirements.Experience working with large, complex datasets and high‑traffic applications.Ability to work with Dev Ops teams to integrate databases into CI/CD workflows.BenefitsApple hardware ecosystem for work.Annual bonus.Top‑tier health and life insurance.Transportation budget to support commute verflex benefits package for meal allowances, well‑being, and more.Childcare support.Air Conference – opportunity to meet the team, collaborate, and grow together.Pension fund to support long‑term financial planning.Urban Sports Club als 100% free at the hub.Diversity & InclusionAt Air Apps, we are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace.
