Job Description:
As a Trade Compliance Specialist, you will be part of a dynamic and growing team supporting customers in trade compliance and customs topics across various industry verticals. The team is based across Europe servicing customers globally, with a focus on the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Europe.
Position Responsibilities:
The following tasks are typical activities handled by the team, however on-the-job training will be provided, where necessary:
Follow up and communicate regulatory changes related to Trade Compliance and customs.
Supporting customers on various projects, such as: HS classification, preferential management, optimizing import and export flows, process and resource audits, etc.
Investigate and provide guidance on cost saving opportunities, ex. trade agreements, inward/outward processing, bonded warehouse, etc.
Assign HS codes to products according to the classification rules.
Qualify materials for preferential origin and give guidance on other preferential origin requirements.
Issue long term supplier declarations to customers and collect long term suppliers declarations from suppliers. Ensure origin declarations are correctly applied.
Perform customs audits of declarations and provide analysis based upon audit findings.
Perform denied party and embargoed/high risk country screening.
Provide regulatory consulting in various areas such as: incoterms, customs topics, customs authorizations, etc.
Application and management of import and export licenses/authorizations, such as PIC, SwissMedic, Dual Use, etc.
Develop and provide training to customers.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in working experience.
Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in customs or trade compliance.
An understanding of customs and trade compliance terminology and regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Detail oriented and results driven.
Knowledge in SAP, ERP systems are an advantage.
Computer literate in Excel, Word, PowerPoint (Microsoft Office Suite).
Fluent in English and sufficient in business German is an advantage.
