Job Title: CAD / PLM Design Engineer – Automotive Powertrain

Duration: Contract

Workload: Full time hours

Setup: Freelance (Daily rate / Limited Company / Umbrella / Sole Trader)

Location: Hybrid / UK

A CAD / PLM Design Engineer is needed to support powertrain design, focusing on CAD modelling and PLM-driven change management processes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Create and update 3D CAD models and 2D drawings using tools such as CATIA or NX, ensuring alignment with manufacturing and GD&T; standards
- Manage engineering drawings, revisions, and part numbering within PLM systems (e.g. Windchill, Teamcenter)
- Process ECN/ECA workflows, implementing design changes across components like gears, sensors, and housings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, project management) to resolve design and production issues
- Maintain technical documentation,



ensuring compliance with regulatory and industry standards
- Support prototype builds, sample releases, and design for assembly (DFA) activities

Must-Have Skills:

- Strong CAD experience (CATIA V5/V6, NX or similar)
- Hands on experience using CREO
- Hands-on PLM system experience (Windchill, Teamcenter)
- Solid understanding of ECN/ECA change management processes
- Knowledge of GD&T;, tolerancing, and manufacturing processes
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment

Nice-to-Have:

- Automotive or powertrain component experience
- Exposure to electrification (MHEV/PHEV) projects
- Supplier collaboration and external manufacturing knowledge
