R&D; Manager
Mechanical Design & Electronics
The Challenge
As R&D; Manager, you will lead a team of roughly 5 engineers spanning mechanical design & electronics. You will define and follow up product roadmaps, ensure timely and high-quality execution, and oversee every stage of the product development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- People Management: You will inspire and coach your R&D; team, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and results. You will allocate resources effectively, drive recruitment efforts and support professional development.
- Project Execution: You will manage complete product development cycles from concept to launch. This includes overseeing timelines, risks, budgets, and deliverables; ensuring rigorous design reviews, testing, and validation; and balancing short-term enhancements with long-term innovation objectives.
- Technical Oversight: You will provide high-level technical direction across mechanical engineering & electronics. You will evaluate and challenge technical proposals, supervise prototyping, industrialization, certification, and field validation, and contribute to architectural decisions for camera platforms, location systems, and edge-AI hardware.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: You will support Sales and Product Management with technical expertise, participate in customer and partner discussions when needed, and coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure seamless delivery.
- Product Roadmap: You will manage and execute the R&D; product roadmap while remaining technically involved.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Master's degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related field
• Minimum of 8 years of product development experience in hardware/software environments
• At least 3–5 years in technical leadership or R&D; management
• Experience with industrial hardware or mission-critical systems is a must
• Comfortable working in a hands-on engineering environment, closely collaborating with design, testing and production teams.
Technical Competencies
• Strong background in mechanical engineering and product development
• Hands-on experience with plastic injection moulding, aluminium extrusion, sheet metal fabrication or other production techniques
• Solid understanding of thermal management, including cooling and heat dissipation
• Familiarity with PCB (Printed Circuit Board) integration
• Experience developing high-quality, robust products, with a strong focus on waterproofing, sealing and reliability.
• Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and industrialisation
