About MealApp
MealApp is a Belgian FoodTech platform combining food delivery, takeaway, table reservations, payments, promotions and restaurant-management tools within one connected ecosystem.
After 2 years and 5 months of development, MealApp is preparing for its commercial launch in Antwerp.
During an initial pilot with only three restaurants, the platform generated more than €37,000 in order value with zero paid marketing. Approximately 20 restaurants have already been onboarded ahead of launch.
MealApp is now building a strong founding leadership team to successfully launch in Antwerp, establish a scalable growth model and expand across Belgium and Europe.
We are looking for an experienced and entrepreneurial Co-Founder & Chief Commercial and Growth Officer to take complete ownership of MealApp’s commercial execution and growth strategy.
The role
You will work directly with Efisio Bernardi, Founder & CEO, and take responsibility for transforming MealApp from a completed platform into a fast-growing commercial business.
You will lead:
- restaurant acquisition;
- user acquisition;
- strategic partnerships;
- commercial strategy;
- sales operations;
- performance marketing;
- customer activation and retention;
- GMV and revenue growth;
- expansion into new cities.
You will also work closely with Michael Laghezza, MealApp’s Founding Commercial Partner, who has supported the company throughout its development and market-preparation phase.
An important part of your responsibility will be to provide Michael and the existing commercial team with the leadership, training, processes and strategic direction required to achieve stronger results.
You will introduce a professional commercial structure, define responsibilities, establish measurable targets and help build a high-performing organisation capable of scaling MealApp from Antwerp to the rest of Belgium.
This is not simply a sales or marketing position. It is a senior founding role with direct responsibility for the company’s commercial performance, revenue generation and market expansion.
Key responsibilities
- Take full ownership of MealApp’s commercial and growth strategy.
- Create and execute the commercial launch plan for Antwerp.
- Build a repeatable city-launch and expansion model.
- Lead the acquisition of independent restaurants, restaurant groups and hospitality chains.
- Build and manage a structured B2B sales pipeline.
- Develop strategic partnerships with Horeca companies, local organisations and technology partners.
- Establish clear weekly and monthly commercial targets.
- Introduce professional CRM, reporting and sales-management processes.
- Lead, support and train Michael and the wider commercial team.
- Improve the team’s capabilities in negotiation, account management, pipeline management and commercial planning.
- Assign clear responsibilities, priorities, deadlines and performance expectations.
- Attend important restaurant, chain and strategic-partnership meetings.
- Lead user-acquisition strategies across Google Ads, Meta Ads, partnerships, promotions, referral programmes and other relevant channels.
- Coordinate with MealApp’s marketing, social media, SEO, brand and creative teams.
- Define and manage customer-acquisition budgets.
- Track and improve CAC, LTV, conversion, retention, GMV,
revenue and order frequency.
- Improve the customer journey from first contact to registration, first order and repeat purchase.
- Improve the restaurant journey from signature to onboarding, activation and long-term retention.
- Develop promotional campaigns that generate profitable and sustainable order volume.
- Identify the strongest neighbourhoods, restaurant categories and customer segments for expansion.
- Build the future sales, account-management and growth teams.
- Prepare commercial forecasts, performance reports and expansion plans.
- Report commercial progress, risks and priorities directly to the Founder & CEO.
- Participate in investor meetings and explain MealApp’s market strategy, traction, growth model and expansion potential.
First 90 days
During your first 90 days, you will be expected to:
- evaluate MealApp’s current commercial position and restaurant pipeline;
- meet Michael and the existing sales, marketing and creative teams;
- review the current skills, responsibilities and performance of each team member;
- establish a clear commercial reporting structure;
- implement CRM and weekly sales-management processes;
- create a detailed Antwerp launch strategy;
- define measurable targets for restaurants, users, orders, GMV and revenue;
- build a structured restaurant-acquisition pipeline;
- identify priority restaurant groups and strategic partners;
- review current marketing and acquisition channels;
- establish a clear working model between sales, marketing, operations and customer success;
- train and support Michael in commercial execution, negotiation and account management;
- present a scalable growth and expansion plan to the Founder & CEO.
What we are looking for
- Proven experience in commercial leadership, sales, business development, growth or marketplace expansion.
- Experience building or managing high-performing commercial teams.
- Strong ability to coach and develop less-experienced team members.
- Proven experience creating sales processes, pipelines, reporting systems and commercial targets.
- Strong understanding of customer acquisition, conversion, activation and retention.
- Ability to negotiate with restaurant owners, founders, executives and senior decision-makers.
- Experience in FoodTech, hospitality, restaurant technology, SaaS, marketplaces, payments or delivery is highly valuable.
- Experience with CRM systems, commercial forecasting and performance reporting.
- Strong understanding of performance marketing and growth analytics.
- Ability to create structure inside an early-stage and fast-moving company.
- Excellent leadership, communication, coaching and negotiation skills.
- Strong ownership and willingness to be directly accountable for measurable results.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and a genuine interest in building a European company.
- Fluency in English.
- Dutch or French is a strong advantage.
- Strong knowledge of the Belgian market and hospitality industry is highly valuable.
- Candidates must currently live in Belgium or be willing to relocate to Antwerp.
Working arrangement
This is a full-time, fully on-site leadership position based in Antwerp.
The selected candidate will work closely with the Founder, Michael and the wider MealApp team. Regular physical presence is essential because the role involves:
- leading the commercial organisation;
- coaching team members;
- visiting restaurants;
- attending partnership meetings;
- building local relationships;
- executing the Antwerp launch directly from the market.
Remote or hybrid arrangements are not available for this position.
Compensation and equity
The full-time position will officially begin following the successful closing of MealApp’s pre-seed fundraising round.
The proposed initial package includes:
- an initial gross monthly salary of approximately €3,000;
- an equity package of up to 2%, depending on experience, commitment and final responsibilities;
- reimbursement of approved business expenses;
- a compensation review after the first six months, based on performance and the company’s financial position.
The equity package will be subject to:
- four-year vesting;
- a one-year cliff;
- monthly vesting after the cliff;
- continued full-time contribution;
- clearly defined commercial and leadership milestones;
- good-leaver and bad-leaver provisions;
- execution of the necessary shareholder and legal agreements.
The final salary, equity percentage and engagement structure will be agreed transparently with the selected candidate before the start of the full-time position.
Before the fundraising round closes, limited involvement in strategy, preparation or selected investor discussions may be agreed separately with the shortlisted candidate.
Why join MealApp?
MealApp has already completed the most difficult initial product-development phase.
You will join immediately before commercial launch and take ownership of building the company’s entire commercial engine.
This is an opportunity to:
- join at a founding level;
- shape the company’s commercial strategy;
- build and lead your own organisation;
- launch a completed FoodTech platform in Antwerp;
- create a scalable expansion model;
- become a long-term shareholder in a Belgian technology company with European ambitions.
You will not join as a traditional employee. You will join as a potential long-term partner with responsibility for one of the most important areas of MealApp.
