For a major player in the financial services sector, we are looking for a Freelance Senior Data Warehouse Migration Engineer to support the transformation of a business-critical Oracle data warehouse towards a modern Azure Databricks platform.

About the Role

As a Senior Data Warehouse Migration Engineer, you will play a key role in a large-scale migration program from Oracle to Azure Databricks.

You will be responsible for automating migration processes, validating data quality, managing deployments and ensuring that migrated solutions meet the highest quality standards.

Working alongside data engineers, architects, testers and platform specialists, you will help deliver a reliable and scalable cloud-based data platform.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and implement migration automation solutions.
- Automate deployment, validation and testing activities.
- Release migrated data warehouse components across environments.
- Develop, optimize and maintain migration scripts.
- Execute regression testing and data reconciliation activities.
- Validate completeness, accuracy and consistency of migrated datasets.
- Support migration of complex data integration and orchestration processes.




- Contribute to the migration of Data Vault and dimensional data models.
- Troubleshoot issues across data, applications and infrastructure.
- Document migration decisions, testing outcomes and technical designs.
- Identify opportunities to accelerate migration efforts through automation and AI.

Your Experience

- Strong experience within enterprise data warehouse environments.
- Extensive Oracle Database and Oracle Data Warehouse expertise.
- Experience with large-scale data migration projects.
- Strong SQL and data analysis skills.
- Experience with Data Vault and dimensional modelling.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks or similar cloud data platforms.
- Strong Python and scripting capabilities.
- Experience with automated testing and regression testing.
- Experience validating and reconciling large volumes of data.
- Knowledge of release management and deployment automation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
