The role focuses on underwriting clients supporting the energy transition, including Renewable Energy risks as well as Conventional Power, ensuring a balanced and resilient portfolio aligned with QBE’s strategic objectives.Your new roleContribute to the delivery of the annual business plan for the respective business unit by making appropriate decisionsApply the reinsurance strategy in order to safeguard the portfolioParticipate in all relevant meetings in order to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practicePositively promote the department, division and company as a whole in order to maximize brand leveragePerform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are metAdhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimize risk and maximize efficiencyEnsure the recording and measurement of insurance risks, (including DUA’s if relevant) to ensure accuracy and good practiceUnderstand and comply with any reinsurance requirements to minimize risk and to deliver business plan objectivesEstablish, strengthen and develop relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers,



business partners and colleagues to maximize influence and achieve business objectivesDemonstrate an understanding and awareness of market dynamics and market cycle to enhance business performanceMaintain expertise and team knowledge through identifying appropriate learning and development activitiesUnderwrite insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and the delegated underwriting authority to meet business objectives including: Negotiating rates terms and conditions for existing and new business, Compliance of production and issue of contract certainty documentation (non Lloyds), Ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines, Ensuring contribution to the business plan and objectives, Support credit control in payment collectionParticipate in the review and analysis of the portfolio to identify progress toward business objectivesEnsure entries are properly and promptly recorded on EO systems to ensure accuracy of data in relation to: Underwriting, Aggregate exposuresContribute to the aggregate management and peer review processes to encourage and develop excellenceMotivate and coach team members to ensure the relevant knowledge and expertise is shared for their continuing personal and professional developmentAbout YouTechnical backgroundA high level of numeracy and literacyStrong organizational and prioritization skillsStrong analytical skillsStrong interpersonal and communication skillsStrong negotiating skillsAbility to analyse data and use for decision makingStrong attention to detailThorough understanding of class specific underwriting and reinsurance knowledgeProven knowledge of relevant market conditions for specific class/portfolioGood knowledge of relevant QBE underwriting systemsIntermediate level understanding of relevant software including Excel and other departmental software packagesGood knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements (specific reference to FSA/Lloyds regulation)BenefitsWe offer a range of benefits to help provide holistic support for your work life, whatever your circumstances.
