ph3Who we are /h3 /brpHelsing is a defence AI company. Our mission is to protect our democracies. We aim to achieve technological leadership, so that open societies can continue to make sovereign decisions and control their ethical standards. /p /brpAs democracies, we believe we have a special responsibility to be thoughtful about the development and deployment of powerful technologies like AI. We take this responsibility seriously. /p /brpWe are an ambitious and committed team of engineers, AI specialists and customer-facing programme managers. We are looking for mission-driven people to join our European teams - and apply their skills to solve the most complex and impactful problems. We embrace an open and transparent culture that welcomes healthy debates on the use of technology in defence, its benefits, and its ethical implications. /p /brh3The role /h3 /brpWe are looking for an experienced and passionate firmware engineer with a hands-on and problem-solving mindset to join us at our office in Barcelona. You will work on solving real challenges in a fast-paced environment, working closely with a multidisciplinary team of electrical, controls, and higher-level software engineers to build reliable, observable, and debuggable robotics systems. /p /brpYou will operate at the boundary between hardware and software, with a strong electrical engineering mindset, helping to architect the future of robotics through best-in-class, modern software engineering practices. /p /brpThis is an individual contributor role. You will be the main owner of the firmware across our robotics platforms - from concept through implementation, validation, and long-term maintenance. It is not a management position, and we're looking for someone who thrives working autonomously and taking end-to-end technical ownership, while collaborating closely with the wider hardware and software teams. /p /brh3Day-to-day /h3 /brul /brliDesign, implement, and maintain embedded firmware for real-time systems: control, sensing, and system monitoring /li /brliOwn the full firmware lifecycle: architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance /li /brliDebug complex system-level issues where the root cause may span software, firmware, hardware, or component behavior /li /brliUse hardware debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and DMMs to diagnose timing, signaling, and electrical issues /li /brliAct as the technical bridge between hardware and software,

The defence industry is entering the most exciting phase of the technological development curve. Advances in our field of world are not incremental: Helsing is part of, and often leading, historic leaps forward /li /brliIn our domain, success is a matter of order-of-magnitude improvements and novel capabilities. Teams and individual engineers are trusted (and encouraged) to practise responsible autonomy and critical thinking, and to focus on outcomes, not conformity. At Helsing you will have a say in how we (and you!) work, the opportunity to engage on what does and doesn’t work, and to take ownership of aspects of our culture that you care deeply about /li /br /ul /brh3What we offer /h3 /brul /brliCompetitive salary and VSOP options /li /brliRelocation support: up to €2,500 and 4 weeks temporary accommodation /li /brliLearning: €500/£450 yearly allowance /li /brliHealth wellness: gym membership and mental health support (Nilo.health) /li /brliSocial: regular company events and monthly social allowances /li /brliEnhanced parental leave: 22 weeks fully paid for primary caregivers 6 weeks for secondary caregivers /li /brliFamily support: 5 days of paid family emergency leave, 100% remote work option during pregnancy and phased return to work /li /brliA hands-on onboarding program (affectionately labelled "Infraduction"), in which you will be building tooling and applications to be used across the company. This is your opportunity to learn our tech stack, explore the company, and learn how we get things done - all whilst working with other engineering teams from day one /li /br /ul /brpHelsing is an equal opportunities employer.
