As an FX Artist, you are half -artist, half -engineer. You will design and execute complex simulations—fire, water, smoke, explosions, cloth, hair, or magical effects. You are comfortable working procedurally and building setups that can be shared across the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Simulation: Create high -end dynamic simulations using Houdini (Pyro, FLIP, RBD, Vellum, Particles).
- Tool Building: Create HDA (Houdini Digital Assets) tools to streamline workflows for other artists.
- Optimization: Manage massive datasets and caches, ensuring scenes are optimized for rendering.
- LookDev: Light and render your FX elements for slap -comps to present to supervisors.
- Problem Solving: Debug complex networks and troubleshoot simulation failures.
What You Bring
- Houdini Expert: Deep knowledge of SideFX Houdini.
- VEX/Python: Proficiency in VEX is essential; Python is highly valued for tool creation.
- Physics Knowledge: A strong understanding of natural phenomena and how to replicate them digitally.
- Rendering: Experience with Mantra, Karma.
- Compositing: Basic knowledge of Nuke to check your work against the plate.
Bonus Points
- Strong math background (Linear Algebra / Trigonometry).
- Experience with Crowd simulations.
- Real -time FX experience (Niagara in Unreal Engine).
