ph3Assistant Professor – Tenure Track /h3 pDepartment: Kinesiology, College of Health and Human Services, California State University, Fresno. /p pLocation: Fresno, California /p pFull consideration date: September 10, 2026br/Applications close: March 31, 2027 /p h3Position Overview /h3 pThe Department of Kinesiology is seeking to fill multiple areas within the program of Exercise Science. The Assistant Professor will predominantly teach undergraduate and graduate courses to students in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Sport Administration, and Sport and Performance Psychology. The faculty member will also partake in scholarly activity at the R2 level, seek external funding, serve on committees of all levels, provide academic advising, chair or serve on thesis committees, and maintain collaborative relationships within and outside the department, including community outreach. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 ul liTeach undergraduate and graduate courses in Kinesiology, focusing on clinical exercise physiology and/or cardiovascular physiology and/or functional anatomy. /li liConduct research at an R2 level and seek external funding opportunities. /li liServe on faculty governance committees and contribute to departmental and university service. /li liAdvise students and chair or serve on thesis committees. /li liDevelop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external research partners. /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 h3Required Education /h3 ul liTerminal doctoral degree in Kinesiology or a closely related field from an accredited institution. /li liApplicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered, but the doctoral degree must be completed by August 1, 2027. /li /ul h3Required Experience /h3 ul liCollege‑level teaching in academic areas directly related to Kinesiology, preferably with an emphasis in clinical exercise physiology and/or cardiovascular physiology and/or functional anatomy. /li liExperience in scholarly activities. /li /ul h3Required Teaching Qualification /h3 ul liAbility to teach one or more of the following areas:
clinical exercise physiology and/or cardiovascular physiology, functional anatomy, general exercise science/exercise physiology courses. /li liSpecific instructional assignments will depend upon departmental needs and priorities. /li /ul h3Preferred Qualifications /h3 ul liTwo or more years of full‑time teaching at the college or university level in a Kinesiology or sports medicine related area. /li liTeaching experience at the graduate level. /li liAbility to advise students toward clinical careers such as clinical exercise physiology, physical therapy, athletic training, or other clinical health professions. /li liPhD with clinical experience and/or research experience in clinical exercise physiology (EKG interpretation), cardiovascular physiology, functional anatomy, or sports medicine. /li liProfessional certifications or licenses in clinical exercise physiology, cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation, or related fields. /li liEvidence of seeking and/or acquiring external funding. /li liDemonstrated ability to manage a teaching load of 12 units per semester while maintaining a research agenda and service requirements. /li /ul h3Application Procedures /h3 ul liSubmit a cover letter addressing required education, experience, and preferred qualifications (2–3 pages). /li liSubmit a curriculum vitae. /li liSubmit a list of three professional references. /li /ul pApplicants who are invited for an on‑campus visit must provide official transcripts and three current letters of recommendation by the specified deadline. /p h3Search Contact /h3 pSearch Chair: Dr. Scott Sailorbr/Email: /p h3Equal Opportunity Statement /h3 pCalifornia State University, Fresno is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer consistent with CSU’s Nondiscrimination Policy and applicable state and federal law.
