Freelance AP Process Lead (Manufacturing)

Location: Limburg, Belgium (5 days per week on-site)

Contract: Freelance | 3-month rolling contract | Strong likelihood of extension

We're looking for a hands-on AP Process Lead to drive operational excellence within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This is not a traditional department management role. We're looking for someone who leads the daily rhythm of the AP function—setting priorities, anticipating issues before they become problems, and ensuring the team focuses on the activities that deliver the greatest business impact.

Working closely with Finance, Purchasing, Logistics, Operations and other key business functions, you'll act as the bridge between operational teams and Finance. Success in this role comes from understanding what's happening on the shop floor, identifying risks before they escalate, and translating operational activity into financial actions and priorities.

We're looking for someone who is naturally proactive. If you see inefficiencies, recurring issues or operational risks developing, you'll challenge them, raise concerns early and drive improvements rather than waiting for problems to occur.

Responsibilities

- Lead the daily operational management of the AP function, setting priorities and maintaining visibility across workloads.
- Monitor KPIs and operational data to identify risks,



anticipate issues and support informed decision-making.
- Drive AP and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process improvements, automation and standardisation.
- Work closely with Finance, Purchasing, Logistics and Operations to resolve process bottlenecks and improve business performance.
- Translate operational performance into financial priorities, reporting and actions.
- Improve invoice automation, reporting and process efficiency using SAP and Excel.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency across both finance and operational processes.
- Coach and support the AP team through daily prioritisation and continuous improvement initiatives.

What We're Looking For

- Proven experience leading AP or P2P processes within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience driving finance process improvements rather than purely managing a team.
- Strong SAP and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with AP automation, KPI reporting and process optimisation.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally with operational teams as well as Finance.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to anticipate issues, prioritise effectively and make data-driven decisions.
- Confident challenging existing processes and driving continuous improvement in a hands-on environment.
