Embedded Software Engineer (Classic AUTOSAR)

Workload: Full time hours

Setup: Freelance (Daily Rate / Limited Company / Umbrella / Sole Trader)

Location: Belgium - hybrid working

Our client is seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer with strong Classic AUTOSAR expertise to support the development and integration of software for an advanced eDCT automotive platform, working across base software, software integration, and ECU architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

- Specify, design, develop and document embedded software functionality.
- Develop and maintain Classic AUTOSAR based software components and integrations.
- Configure, integrate and support AUTOSAR modules within automotive ECUs.
- Collaborate with System, Application, Verification and Validation teams to deliver robust software solutions.
- Create test specifications and support software verification activities.
- Diagnose and resolve software-level issues across embedded systems.
- Contribute to software architecture decisions and continuous product improvements.
- Support development activities within an ASPICE-compliant environment.

Must-Have Skills:





- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 4+ years of experience in Classic AUTOSAR embedded software development.
- Strong experience with AUTOSAR configuration, integration and maintenance.
- Solid understanding of microcontroller architectures and embedded software design principles.
- Experience working with multicore ECU architectures.
- Knowledge of automotive development processes, including ASPICE.
- Experience with software verification, validation, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in static and dynamic code analysis tools and methodologies.
- Experience working within Agile development environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent English.

Nice-to-Have:

- Experience with Vector tools and MICROSAR.
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 Functional Safety, MISRA C, and ISO 21434 Cybersecurity.
- Experience with Stellantis STLA Brain requirements.
- Expertise in bootloader development and HSM firmware.
- Pragmatic, proactive and solution-oriented approach
