About the role
We are looking for a hands-on Data Architect with strong Data Modelling expertise to join an international Data team in Barcelona.
This role sits at the intersection of Data Architecture, Data Modelling and Data Engineering , with a particular focus on designing and evolving data models across both transactional/operational systems and analytical platforms .
You will work closely with Data Engineers, Architects, Governance teams and business stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into scalable, consistent and well-structured data models.
This is an idóneo opportunity for an experienced Data Architect, Data Modeller or Senior Data Engineer who has moved towards architecture and modelling while remaining technically hands-on.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models across enterprise data platforms.
- Design models for both transactional/operational (OLTP) and analytical environments.
- Translate business processes and technical requirements into scalable data structures.
- Design and optimise relational and dimensional models , including facts, dimensions and Star/Snowflake schemas.
- Review existing databases, schemas and application data structures to identify inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Support the evolution of Data Warehouse, Data Lake and modern cloud data architectures .
- Collaborate closely with Data Engineers and Architects to ensure models are correctly implemented.
- Contribute to Data Governance, Data Quality, metadata, lineage and modelling standards .
- Maintain data dictionaries, documentation and naming standards.
- Ensure data models support performance, scalability, consistency and maintainability.
What we're looking for
- Strong professional experience in Data Architecture, Data Modelling or Senior Data Engineering , with significant hands-on modelling responsibilities.
- Strong understanding of relational database design , including entities, relationships, primary/foreign keys, constraints and normalisation.
- Experience designing models for transactional databases (OLTP) .
- Strong experience with analytical/Data Warehouse modelling .
- Experience with dimensional modelling , including facts, dimensions and Star/Snowflake schemas.
- Advanced SQL skills.
- Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle or SQL Server .
- Strong understanding of Data Warehouse and modern data platform architectures.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical data models.
- Comfortable collaborating with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Professional English communication skills.
What we're looking for in you We are looking for someone who combines strong data modelling fundamentals with a modern Data Architecture mindset .
You should be comfortable moving between transactional and analytical environments , understanding when data needs to be normalised for operational consistency and when dimensional or denormalised structures are more appropriate for analytics.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who remains hands-on and enjoys solving complex data modelling challenges rather than working exclusively at a high-level architecture layer.
