ppDescription /ppstrongJob Title: /strong Certified Nurse Aide or Mental Health Tech (can be uncertified) /ppSenior Care Unit; PRN with varying shifts /ppstrongReports To: /strong RN/Charge Nurse /ppstrongJob Summary: /strong /ppAssists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients and assists in maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse in charge of the team and/or unit. /ppustrongDemonstrates Competency in the Following Areas: /strong /u /pulliProvides basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients within the nursing assistant’s scope of practice that includes actions that meet psychosocial needs and physical needs. /liliProvides general aspects of care that meet psychosocial or physical needs or both simultaneously, within the nursing assistant’s scope of practice. /liliMeets communication needs of patients. /liliDemonstrates performance reflecting the initiative and responsibility expected of a nursing assistant. /liliPerforms other duties as assigned, within the Nursing Assistant’s scope of practice. /liliAssists in admission, transfer and discharge of patient. /liliPerforms basic patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standard of care for patient’s age. /liliNotifies appropriate licensed staff when patient complains of pain. /liliDemonstrates ability to communicate to the nurse any observed changes in patient status and responses. Maintains awareness of the needs of the pediatric, geriatric and general patient population. /liliDemonstrates ability to assist with feeding patients and maintaining fluid balance with technique appropriate for patient’s age and physical condition. /liliProvides explanation to patient and family prior to administering care to patient, answers questions within scope of practice. /liliDemonstrates ability to perform treatments and provide services within scope of practice. /liliCommunicates appropriately and clearly to team leader, co-workers and physicians.



/liliConsults other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs. /liliProvides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient, including pediatric, geriatric and general population. /liliPerforms all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. /liliSupports and maintains a culture of safety and quality. /liliDemonstrates an ability to be adaptable, organized and function under stressful situations. /liliResponds to patient in emergency or physically distressful situations. /liliTreats patients and their families with respect and dignity. /liliInteracts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. /liliMaintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments. /liliMeets current documentation standards and policies and completes within shift. /liliManages and operates equipment safely and correctly. /liliCoordinates and supervises patient care under the direct supervision of an RN. /liliDemonstrates knowledge of disease entities. /li /ulpustrongProfessional Requirements: /strong /u /pulliAdheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean. /liliMaintains regulatory requirements, including all federal, state, local regulations and accrediting organization standards. /liliMaintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times. /liliMaintains patient confidentiality at all times. /liliReports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time. /liliWears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly. /liliCompletes inservices and returns in a timely fashion. /liliAttends annual review and department inservices, as scheduled.



/liliAttends 12 staff meetings annually or reads and returns monthly staff meeting minutes. /liliRepresents the organization in a positive and professional manner. /liliActively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. /liliComplies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices. /liliCommunicates the mission, ethics and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department. /li /ulpRequirements /ppustrongRegulatory Requirements: /strong /u /pp· Preferred High School graduate or equivalent. /pp· Successful completion of certified nursing assistant program. /pp· Current BLS certification. /ppustrongLanguage Skills: /strong /u /pp· Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. /pp· Additional languages preferred. /ppustrongSkills: /strong /u /pp· Basic computer knowledge. /ppustrongPhysical Demands: /strong /u /pp· Mobility, sight, hearing, verbal communication, changes in temperature, exposure to disagreeable elements, exposure to biological, mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Frequent standing and walking. Lift up to 100 pounds. Carrying up to 40 pounds. Pushing/pulling up to 450 pounds. /pp· This position is a safety sensitive position pursuant to Amendment 98 to the Arkansas Constitution § 2(25). A safety sensitive position means any position in which a person performing the position while under the influence of marijuana may constitute a threat to health or safety.
