Reporting to: (Markets Research Manager)
Based in: Madrid The selected professional will Support commercial and strategic decision-making across market intelligence, energy policy, project pipeline, and M&A; due diligence for a US solar and storage portfolio.
What will you do?
- Market Intelligence — Monitor US wholesale electricity markets (ERCOT focus); assess price trends, capacity, ancillary services, and RECs; build forecasting models; review third-party studies (Aurora, Longspur, Wood Mackenzie); report to senior management and investment committees.
- Energy Policy & Regulation — Track federal and state developments (FERC, RPS, ITC/PTC/IRA); identify regulatory risks and opportunities; produce briefings and position papers for senior leadership.
- Project Pipeline — Support site selection, interconnection strategy, and development decisions for US solar and storage; evaluate BESS economics, co-location, and ancillary market participation; contribute to investment memos and board presentations.
- Due Diligence — Support M&A;, acquisitions, and financing rounds with market data, power price assumptions, and regulatory risk assessments; build revenue projections coordinating with investment funds and banks.
What do we need?
- 4+ years in energy markets, power trading, or renewable energy commercial roles
- Proficiency in forecasting tools (Aurora, Plexos, PROMOD or similar)
- Knowledge of PPA structures,
VPPA mechanics, and offtake risk
- Advanced Excel; Python or R a plus
- Fluent English and Spanish
