What You’ll Do

-

- Build, maintain, and scale backend services and their support tools

- Participate in architectural definitions with a high degree of innovation and creativity

- Work closely with product and experience teams to understand product specifications and influence the roadmap for the distributed tracing product at New Relic

- Create automation and tooling to make our systems more scalable and easier to deploy

- Work in an agile environment with a DevOps approach; teams build and maintain their own software, including participating in on‑call rotations

- Use AI tools to accelerate your development workflow,



from writing and reviewing code to investigating production issues and helping the team adopt what works

- Embrace a culture of technical excellence and shared knowledge

This role requires

-

- Experience with distributed systems, concurrency, and scaling in production environments

- Strong experience writing software in OOP languages (Kotlin, Java, Go, etc.) and comfort adapting to different languages and frameworks

- Familiarity with asynchronous programming techniques: streams, event‑based flows, task queues, message queues

- Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment focused on delivering production code at a regular cadence using Agile techniques, tools, and methodologies

- A collaborative work style that includes colleagues in important decisions and leads to shared code ownership

- Adaptability in a rapidly changing industry, curiosity about AI and readiness to enhance your development workflow

- Proficiency in English

- Understanding of the value that build and test automation brings to development team efficiency and reliability, with passion for applying these techniques

- Experience with OpenTelemetry or related industry knowledge
