AWS has successfully launched the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC). To spearhead this initiative, we are seeking experienced systems engineers with a strong background in automation and operations.

As part of the AWS Managed Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in building, operating and evolving the teams that deliver high‑availability AWS services for EU customers.

Responsibilities

-

- Oversee ongoing operations and expansion of the ESC, working closely with general AWS teams.

- Collaborate with technology leaders and contribute to operational improvements around availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency.

- Participate in 24x7 on‑call rotations to resolve incidents and ensure fault‑tolerant systems.

- Develop and test automation scripts to enhance workflows and system reliability.

- Provide training and knowledge sharing about the European Sovereign Cloud to service teams.

Eligibility Requirements

-

- Fluency in written and spoken English.

- Must be a national of an EU member state and reside in the EU.

- Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting or networking administration.

- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Perl.

- Strong background in systems engineering, site reliability engineering, and operating large‑scale systems.

- Ability to lead the creation, revision, and improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs) and drive operational best practices.

Basic Qualifications

-





- Experience in Linux OS and network troubleshooting, or experience in networking administration and troubleshooting.

- Experience in Python, Perl, or another scripting language.

- Experience in Systems engineering, site reliability engineering, building and operating systems at scale.

- Ability to lead the creation, revision, and/or improvement of standard operational procedures (SOPs) and driving operational best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

-

- Experience with monitoring frameworks such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, or Elastic.

- Experience actively mentoring junior engineers and working cross‑organizationally on strategic team efforts.

- Experience operating 24x7 high‑availability, distributed software applications and performance tuning.

- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.G., CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible).

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and Generative AI technologies including automated deployment and model deployment.
