Job Overview
Commercial Lending Management (CLM) is an integral part of the Institutional Credit Management (ICM) organization. CLM’s mandate is to deliver best-in-class credit risk analysis, monitoring and credit administration as a partner of both CCB Business and Independent Risk areas, thus to ensure the safety and soundness of lending across CCB. CLM Credit Analysts/Underwriters are responsible for a portfolio of CCB Relationships, owning the Credit Risk Analysis for those relationships and being responsible for the continuous monitoring of that portfolio. That includes the production of Annual Reviews, Interims Reviews, Classified Credit Memos (if applicable) and the support to Ad-Hoc Transactions and Portfolio & Industry Reviews and Stress Testing. A CLM Credit Analyst is expected to have a deep understanding of credit risk, Citi’s internal policies and procedures and different industries fundamentals. With minimal supervision from CLM Head is able to carry thoughtful conversations with Independent Risk and Business Coverage partners. Applies analytical thinking of data analysis tools and methodologies and pays attention to detail when making judgments and recommendations based on the analysis of information. Is able to communicate potentially complex/sensitive information. Develops duties following high quality standards and in acceptable turnaround time.
Responsibilities
Interface with and support bankers in underwriting requests for commercial credit extensions for new and existing clients with ownership responsibilities for sound credit decisions and compliance with internal procedures/credit risk policy guidelines and standards.
Prepare a detailed written credit summary of commercial applicants requesting credit by analyzing the business,
interpreting the finance need, identifying the strengths and prevailing risk factors and rendering a final credit decision.
Perform detailed financial analysis on companies, including trend and ratio analysis, and interpret the financial information.
Perform credit and personal financial statement analysis on individuals, guarantors, and co-borrowers in order to assess repayment capacity based on cash flow statements, tax returns, and statements.
Perform industry and geographical research and other due diligence as needed.
Maintain a solid understanding of Citibank products and services - within Small Business/Commercial Banking and the broader organization.
Maintain compliance with Citibank credit policies/practices and regulatory policies, to ensure business unit is in adherence to the above and receives satisfactory ratings from internal and external auditors.
Other duties as required to support business unit and company goals.
Qualifications
2-5 years relevant experience in credit risk management or equivalent training and experience preferably in the financial services industry.
Must be highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects and possess effective.
Extensive knowledge of GAAP accounting, financial regulations, financial products, and credit analysis.
Well-developed analytical skills, including understanding of key financial components (liquidity position, leverage profile) with the ability to identify root causes and trends and anticipate horizon issues.
Sets the standard for industry research capabilities, including risk and key drivers.
Consistently demonstrates solid and concise written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
