IMDEA Energy Institute is a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence dedicated to conducting research and development (R&D;) in the fields of renewable energy and clean energy technologies, while fostering strong partnerships with leading companies in the energy sector ( IMDEA Energy is opening a Research Assistant position in the Biotechnological Processes Unit, seeking motivated candidates to work on bioethanol production from pretreated municipal solid waste.
Tasks Description Macromolecular characterization of the substrate.
Optimization of the enzymatic hydrolysis step.
Production of bioethanol from hydrolyzed streams.
Assessment of simultaneous enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation.
Process scale-up to 50 L bioreactors.
Requirements Compulsory Requirements:
Degree in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biology or related areas.
Other Merits To Value Previous experience with yeast fermentation
Previous experience in a biotechnology lab (analytics, microorganisms cultivation,



waste valorization, etc)
Oral and written communication skills in English.
Selection Criteria Adequacy of the candidate's training to the requested profile.
Work experience related to the profile of the job position.
Knowledge of English.
Motivation for accomplishing high-quality research.
Conditions Remuneration: Between 19.000€ – 21.000€ per year, depending upon qualification and expertise.
The contract includes all the benefits of the Spanish Public Health and Social Security System.
