Customer Retention Strategist at Common Thread Collective

In this position at CTC, you will play a pivotal strategic role, guiding our clients toward durable, scalable growth. Your core responsibility is to deliver steady and reliable revenue through retention‑focused initiatives—using data‑backed insights to build accurate forecasts, shape strategic direction, and ensure consistent performance.
Beyond managing email programs, you will act as a trusted advisor across all retention strategy areas, communicating the rationale behind decisions and connecting forecasting insights to email, SMS, direct mail, and other touchpoints. You will advocate for CTC's unique retention methodology and the tools that support it, ensuring every initiative is executed with precision and tightly aligned with client objectives.

Minimum Experience Requirements
- At least 2 years of hands‑on experience in email and SMS marketing, proven execution across campaigns,
automations, segmentation, and optimization.
- At least 2 years of experience in retention marketing, owning initiatives that drive predictable revenue, customer lifetime value, and continuous lifecycle improvements.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong data analysis skills; familiarity with Google Sheets and data tools.
- Excellent communication in English—persuasive, empathetic, and capable of delivering presentations.
- High emotional intelligence; able to craft thoughtful client messaging.
- Strategic thinking using logical frameworks; able to solve complex problems.
- Experience with metrics & KPIs to measure retention effectiveness (Statlas, Growth Map).
- Proficiency in retention tactics beyond email: SMS, direct mail, popups, push notifications, memberships, loyalty programs, and more.
Onboarding & Kick‑Off
- Align with the team and contribute to Brain Trust for ideas across clients.
- Manage and collaborate with pod members including Growth Strategist, Media Buyer, and Creative Strategist.
- Organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks with great attention to detail.
- Maintain data integrity across Statlas and other tracking tools.
- Implement CTC’s Email and SMS best practices and tools such as memberships, loyalty programs, popups, quizzes, cart drawers,
post‑purchase upsell tools, and direct mail.
- Build and optimize Email Forecasts, use the Prophet System and Growth Map for forecasts, and adjust resources each month.
- Maintain client communication: daily performance updates, weekly Slack updates, and align on strategy and forecast.
Job Scope
- Oversee profitable growth of retention channels (email, SMS, direct mail, popups, push notifications).
- Write briefs for the team and ensure deliverables meet brand consistency and tight timelines.
- Analyze metrics and KPIs, provide insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with design, content, and other teams on compelling email content.
- Manage client relationships, consult on business problems beyond the email platform.
- Prioritize relational equity with clients and team to foster long‑term growth.
- Monitor active campaigns, deploy additional resources, and update strategy to hit projected targets.
Salary Range
- Days 1–30: $1,500 (Part‑time transition phase)
- Days 31–60: $3,000 (Full‑time start, independent management of first 3 client accounts)
- Days 61–90: $4–5,000 + performance bonuses (growth of portfolio, bonus for revenue targets)
- Salary progression dependent on client quantity and quality of work.
