Automation Engineer (PCS 7) – (On-site)

Location: Nr Antwerp, Belgium

We are seeking a Automation Engineer with PCS 7 knowledge to provide on-site automation support within a highly regulated life sciences manufacturing environment.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining, supporting and continuously improving a complex Siemens PCS 7 process control environment. This is a long-term opportunity where you'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability, performance and ongoing optimisation of critical manufacturing systems.

The position combines hands-on technical expertise with strong analytical, documentation and stakeholder management skills, making it idóneo for an engineer who enjoys solving complex operational challenges while working closely with production, quality and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day technical support for a Siemens PCS 7 distributed control system within a live manufacturing environment.
- Diagnose automation issues, perform root cause analysis and implement robust, long-term solutions.
- Deliver small-scale system enhancements and modifications, assessing technical impact, coordinating implementation and ensuring appropriate validation.
- Work collaboratively with Quality, Engineering and Operations teams to ensure all changes meet regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Provide technical guidance on system performance, risk mitigation and continuous improvement opportunities.
- Maintain high-quality technical documentation,



change records and system knowledge to support operational continuity.
- Contribute to the safe, reliable and efficient operation of interconnected automation systems within a regulated production environment.

Required Experience

- Hands-on experience with Siemens PCS 7 within industrial process automation.
- Understanding of complex distributed control systems and their interaction within manufacturing environments.
- Previous experience working within the Life Sciences, pharmaceutical or other GMP-regulated industries.
- Familiarity with validation activities, including impact assessments and supporting FAT, SAT and commissioning documentation.
- Ability to troubleshoot automation issues and implement practical, sustainable improvements.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Highly organised with a strong focus on documentation, planning and quality.

The successful candidate will be a proactive automation specialist who is comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with customer and project teams. You will have a strong commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions and be looking for a long-term opportunity within a technically advanced manufacturing environment.

Additional Requirements

- Must be fluent Dutch speaking.
- This is an on-site role (no remote/hybrid for first 12 months)
- Candidates seeking a long-term engagement of several years are strongly preferred as this will be a long term contract opportunity.
