SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR SENIOR

Job Title: Freelance Senior System Administrator (1-Year Contract)

Location: Belgium (Hybrid: 3 days on-site, 2 days remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Freelance System Administrator to design, implement, and maintain high-performance, secure, and scalable IT infrastructure. In this role, you will oversee servers, networks, storage, virtualization, and cloud services, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security. Your expertise will drive the stability and efficiency of our IT operations, supporting business continuity and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and maintain on-premises and cloud-based systems (Linux, Windows, virtualization, containers).
- Implement and optimize server configurations, patch management, and performance tuning.
- Design, deploy, and manage virtualized environments (VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V).
- Automate system administration tasks using scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- Ensure network security, performance, and uptime (firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, monitoring).
- Manage storage solutions (NAS, SAN, backup/recovery systems).
- Implement and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Monitor system health, performance, and security using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus.
- Collaborate with security teams to enforce policies, compliance, and best practices (ISO 27001, GDPR).
- Lead infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and scaling projects.
- Mentor junior system administrators and provide technical guidance.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in system administration.





Adecuado Candidate Profile

Experience

- 7+ years of experience as a System Administrator, or Infrastructure Engineer, with 3+ years in a senior or leadership role.
- Strong expertise in Linux and Windows Server administration.
- Experience with virtualization, containerization, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python).
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus) and logging systems (ELK Stack).
- Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls).
- Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Familiarity with security best practices (ISO 27001, GDPR, Active Directory).
- Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Knowledge of Agile/ITIL methodologies is a plus.

Languages

- Fluent in English (required for collaboration).
- Fluent in French or Dutch (required for client/stakeholder communication).
