Now sourcing: Interim CTO - IT Transition Coordinator | 12 months | Brussels

On behalf of a Belgian French-speaking public sector organisation, Essensys is looking for a senior interim IT executive to take on the role of IT Transition Coordinator / acting CTO for a 12-month mandate.

This is not a standard "keep the lights on" interim assignment. It is a hands-on transition mandate in a politically sensitive environment with dual governance, tight timelines and demanding stakeholders.

The mandate

As acting head of IT, you will:

- Take operational control of the IT function and safeguard the continuity of digital services.
- Build a consolidated view of the project, demand and service portfolio.
- Put in place demand governance, prioritisation, arbitration and reporting mechanisms (executive-grade dashboard from week one).
- Restore budgetary transparency and roll out a full TCO model.
- Steer suppliers (private and institutional) and strengthen accountability, including public procurement ("marchés publics").
- Rebuild a climate of trust and collaboration between two public organisations and unlock concrete synergies.
- Prepare the handover to a permanent IT leadership team (recruitment framing, knowledge transfer).

Your profile

- Senior consultant or IT executive, comfortable at CODIR / Board / supervisory-authority level.




- Proven track record in IT transition leadership in complex, constrained environments with short-term result obligations.
- Strong PMO and portfolio management capability.
- Experienced with sourcing and public procurement, including conflict-of-interest management.
- Solid IT financial steering (commitments, TCO).
- Familiar with the Belgian public sector; knowledge of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles institutional framework is a strong plus.
- Leadership, political acumen, mediation skills, change delivery.
- Native French required.

Practicalities

- Location: Brussels (1030), hybrid.
- Duration: 12 months.
- Reporting: co-piloted by two Directors General; bi-monthly structured governance; regular reporting to the Board.
- Start: as soon as possible.
